Dear Emilio,

Just wanted to let you know a few things as you embark on your college search.

It doesn’t matter as much where you go to college as much as what you do while you’re there. College gives you three things.

1. That college degree is a ticket that makes it easier to get those higher paying “professional” jobs.

2. Critical thinking skills that gives you the ability to figure things out objectively and the mindset to keep learning new things.

3. Friends who will be part of your future professional network. You will help each other in careers or business for decades to come. (Join clubs)

Famous universities add prestige, a richer network and a much MUCH more competitive environment.

As long as you engage and make sure you’re getting these things, you’ll be okay.

Hope this helps.

Dad.
